From Prado to Prada
Using computational processes to enquire the hidden beauty of commerce imagery
This project draws inspiration from the practices of two artists: Sam Lavigne and Romare Bearden. By merging their distinct approaches, this experiment aims to craft a contemporary visual exploration that bridges digital methodologies with traditional artistic practices.
Inspired by Lavigne, I use web scraping to extract e-commerce imagery, which defines beauty in a mechanical way. Unlike Bearden's material rooted in community and culture, these images highlight how commercialization shapes artistic practice and individuality today.
